Apteegi 3. I will never forget the day in September 1996 when I entered its doors for the first time. All around us were seminary students, trying to climb crowded stairs, searching for a place...any place...to eat their meals, attempting to listen to lectures or study in overcrowded rooms with no desks. And yet, there the presence of God's Spirit and the excitement of a new opportunity were everywhere. There was no doubt, God was at work in that place, preparing men and women for ministry.
Today, the seminary has moved into its new, spacious location at the Baltic Mission Center. For almost 2 and 1/2 years Apteegi's rooms were empty except for a few Bible classes or the folks who lived in the lower apartments. What had once been a vibrant place of new life and new beginnings, had become just another beautiful old building.
That is, until, a new light began to shine earlier this year. In June I returned to Apteegi for a day of celebration at the Lighthouse Children's ministry. Once more there was activity. Once more there was laughter. Once more there was abounding evidence of God's love. Some of the poorest children in Tallinn now have a place where they are fed, receive much needed attention and encouragement, learn about the Good News, and know they are loved. It was an exciting afternoon as we saw first-hand how Lighthouse is changing lives of children in Crisis.
You can help in that life-changing mission! Lighthouse depends upon the commitment and generous giving of its supporters in order to meet the many needs of the children it reaches. Would you consider a $1,000 gift and become a Lighthouse Partner? Your response can determine how many lives can be touched by the staff of this ministry. Your response will insure that Apteegi 3 continues to be a setting for new life and new beginnings. Help make Lighthouse's beacon shine brightly!
