Progress Report 1

Tallinn, April 15, 2001

After months of preparation, Children Center Lighthouse opened its doors on April 7th at Apteegi 3, Tallinn. It was a small but promising beginning. Six children had gathered and Estonian youth from the mission group of Tallinn UMC sang with the children, played games, told Bible stories and showed love to them in so many other ways. The day ended with a feast.

Throughout the week, the children have invited their friends and have enjoyed returning to the center. They have been fed, and clothed, if necessary; there have been activities, Bible stories and songs. Shortly, study circles or "classes" will begin.

Also during the past week preparations were made for the Easter service on Friday. We had also invited children from another center "Guardian Angel" to the service. First we watched the Russian youth group give a very skillful performance on the resurrection of Christ, then we had a festive meal and some time for fellowship. In the end, the 20+ children could hold newly hatched chickens in their hands.

These are humble beginnings, but we trust the Lord to multiply the work--
to change the nation... one heart at a time
